New Ad Targets Harris-Supported EV Mandates

Michigan’s auto industry, small businesses, and car culture are at risk.

ARLINGTON, VA—Kamala Harris and her running mate support policies threatening Michigan’s automotive industry and car culture. Driving Force Action released an ad featuring Lennon, Michigan, small business owner Greg Henderson of Unofficial Use Only. Greg’s small business is one of the thousands of locally owned businesses at risk from Harris-supported electric vehicle mandates. The ad began airing on August 26.

Biden-Harris EV mandates are already causing upheaval among major manufacturers by pushing them to adopt EV technology prematurely. Their government-knows-best policy will soon inflict similar pain on small family-owned businesses across Michigan as they are also forced to comply with federal EV mandates.

Kamala Harris has an even more radical policy approach. Harris co-sponsored the Zero-Emissions Vehicle Act of 2019, legislation that would have banned all new gas-powered vehicles, posing a severe threat to thousands of good jobs and increasing living expenses for middle and low-income Americans.

“It’s no wonder Kamala Harris hasn’t shared her policy agenda with the American people. Her job-killing EV policy is a mandate to benefit wealthy people, not working people,” said DFA Spokesman Scot Crockett.

Harris-supported EV mandates put thousands of jobs at risk. The specialty-equipment aftermarket parts industry supports over 116,000 Michigan jobs and contributes $34 billion to the state’s economy. The potential loss of these jobs is a stark reminder of the human cost of EV mandates.

Harris’ EV policy is not just a threat to Michigan’s automotive aftermarket parts industry. It is a national issue, potentially destroying a $337 billion industry that employs over 1 million Americans. The scale of this threat should not be underestimated.
